A New Hope. The Reconstruction.

A broken dream,
A destroyed team,
All the pride,
Kept Aside,
Rebuilding was on,
But powers were gone,
The stand was quiet,
As they lost the fight.

Manchester United had to struggle a lot to move on and continue with the club after all that happened,
It was almost impossible for them to rebuild themselves.
But they did. And surprisingly, it would have not been possible without Real Madrid
and Liverpool's help.
Today, the clubs considered as one of the main rivals for Manchester,
helped Manchester rebuilding.

REAL MADRID

The relations between the two clubs have dropped from 10 to 1 in the past 10/15 years,
but they happen to have a much better history.
After the Munich crash, not only the club lost 8 players, but it also had to suffer a lot of financial losses, had to lose players, managers, also, the staff had a devastating impact.
It was almost impossible to recover the financial loses, and even harder to regain what they lost, the confidence, the spirit, that charisma, the dream, the dream to conquer Europe.
When everyone thought they lost it, Real Madrid helped Manchester United, due to their great relation with Sir Matt Busby, and the mutual respect for each other.

Real Madrid was so impressed by Sir Matt Busby and his abilities that they offered him a job for Real Madrid. But, as it was too obvious, he turned that down and sticked to Manchester United.

Because the team was gone, United had to continue with the new young, inexperienced team, which lost the semi finals against Milan.
Later, Milan was defeated by Real Madrid in the finals.
Real Madrid also offered Manchester United the trophy,
and dedicated the win to the fallen 8.
Yet, it was turned down by United.

Apart from this, Madrid also helped in many different ways.
They offered Manchester United their greatest player, Alfredo Di Stefano, but the transfer
couldn't take place because the football association blocked it.
Madrid held many fund raising events like contesting matches, etc. They also made a memorial
pennant with the name of Munich Dead, which was auctioned and sold at luxurius costs.

Had it not been Madrid, Manchester United would have not been able to achieve the quick success.

LIVERPOOL

Liverpool, they're the most hated opposition by United.
This was a bit similar back in 1958 as well.

The rivalry between two clubs have been astonishing.
But, to everyone's amaze, Liverpool manager Bill Shankly, in 1958,
After the disaster, offered Manchester United 5 LFC players, apart from that, Liverpool also agreed to
pay their wages.
Sure that there was intense rivalry, but no hatred.
There was this sudden unbreakable bond between United and Liverpool.

Bill Shankly on Manchester United -

“IT ALSO OPENED A LOT OF PEOPLES EYES TO HOW THE FANS HATRED HAS DESTROYED WHAT EVERYONE BELIEVED WERE UNBREAKABLE BONDS BETWEEN UNITED AND LIVERPOOL – SURE THERE WAS INTENSE RIVALRY BUT NO HATRED – LIVERPOOL HAD A PLACE IN UNITED HEARTS BECAUSE AS SOON AS IT WAS ANNOUNCED WE WOULD CARRY ON AFTER MUNICH, (MANY THOUGHT WE WOULD FOLD) LIVERPOOL WERE STRAIGHT IN AND OFFERED UNITED THE PICK OF THEIR RESERVE TEAM AND ANY OTHER HELP WE MIGHT NEED – FOREST WERE THE ONLY OTHER CLUB TO OFFER HELP.”
